There are two ways to look at this song, addiction is a sickness also. If you look at the official video it shows an old woman that may have cancer and also addicts. It doesn't matter when the song was written, the Rev I think knew he was going to die because of his enlarged heart and decided he would rather go in peace. I do know for a fact that the Brompton Cocktail was one of The Rev's favorite drug, on the many all accessed backstage videos I have watched on youtube. When you feel dehumanized and me being a ex heroin addict for 10 years, sober now 5 years. It sounds exactly the way I felt because addiction is a sickness like cancer and when he mentions he lost his final fight with diease, he feels this where it ends, I need that shot to enter my veins so mix it strong my friend. Dying is bad but when it says please don't question why, a world so cold in a world so wrong, he isn't running away but it is so strong, I believe that he could not stay sober, it filled a void in his life, unless you have been on the needle the song makes so much more sense. I hate that we are losing all these talented people. I am going to see AX7 in concert and I would give anything to see and meet the Rev, just once, The song Fiction is also one of his many names that were given to him that he also had tattooed on his body, three days before he died he handed in that song. I think he knew he was dying anyway and having an enlarged heart plus using drugs made it worse. Look up The Rev on wikapedia and it tells the day before he dies, there is so much of the crying for help in the song fiction as in brompton cocktail, when it says he wants to come back into this world alive as he did in the beginning. I loved the Rev and wonder how someone so beautiful and you could tell he had so much love and wanted to make people laugh. I hope that I will get to go visit his grave and put something on it, just to see him would be nice.
