Free as a Bird Lyrics Meaning

I wonder what does it mean "home,home and dry" I looked up "DRY" in the dictionary. There are several meanings, the most accurate,for me, is"to stop talking".I think on a homing bird flying ,determined, with no distractions,being free,sure of flying,living it. And referring to the song, for me : it's inmortal John,far away from the life he used to know.Finally free ,remember he had a difficult childhood,Now he is far away from his love :Yoko.The things that made him be free ,now, are just a memory.
