Paul Simon - Loves Me Like a Rock Lyrics Meaning

Grew up hearing and listening to this great old song in the 70's by PAUL SIMON about a very strong, strict and old fashioned mother's love for her son that is very real, with the upbringing most likely in the Catholic--Jewish tradition within the old standards when the boy's own feelings did not matter to the mother that much. When she called him out, she put the fear of god in him to listen and to not just trust anybody. When it came to loving him she knew what was best for him, to raise him to be strong, smart, and tough to love him like a rock, like he does't have any feelings of his own to know what's right for him, but his mother know's how to love him like a rock to make him go all the way to the top.
