This line (in my opinion) basically means that the guy wants to be led by this certain someone he looks up to (be it a love interest or a friend/family member) because he knows he'll find a better way to live his life by following them. Search up the meaning of the phrase "the great divide". Did you do it already? Ok, now that you know, look back up at the lyrics i quoted at the very top.

"And if you feel the great dividing" means thats the person or "you" thats he's talking about in the song knows when things aren't going right and knows the righg way to get through it all, and that's why he looms up to them for guidsnce and advice. Idk if my explanation made sense. I hope it does.
