Fleetwood Mac - Sara Lyrics Meaning

Sara is the name Stevie Nicks gave to the child she aborted that was fathered by the Eagles' Don Henley. The song has to do more with Nicks and Henley's relationship than anything else. The house she refers to in the song is referencing the house that Don was building at the time. Things were complicated between them, and she didn't think that he cared about being a father, so she chose to abort the pregnancy. Henley has said this in numerous interviews, and it appears to be quite an emotional subject for him. I think Stevie really did want a life and family with him, but things fell a part and the decision she made could not be reversed. She longs in heart for what could of been, and even though she doesn't have this child with her physically, she still carries it spiritually and emotionally. Haunting, yet beautiful song.
