I see this song about two drug addicts. In love. Getting high together. Getting "too close to the stars". Too close that one has a close call and ends up in the hospital. The singer wonders "when" they're coming back, later "if". He sees his "reflection" in his lovers eyes because they're both addicts. They both have the same demons. Just that the other "fell just as hard" as they were using.
The singer's "been sad" since the lover was hospitalized. He proposed the liver getting help, "I tried to put it out for you to give", but the lover didn't accept it. And he sees himself the same way, as that reflection.
