We Found Love Lyrics Meaning
I understand what you are saying - and it very well maybe the primary interpretation of the song - I don't know the writer - does anyone know anything about him, like his personal life. I certainly see that a narrator could be talking about exactly what you say - but consider for a moment:
'Yellow diamonds in the light'. Yellow diamonds are among the most rare of diamonds - the most precious of stones, an extremely strong and beautiful material. Yellow is also a color of powerful symbolism: Yellow shines with optimism, enlightenment, and happiness. Shades of golden yellow carry the promise of a positive future. Yellow will advance from surrounding colors and instill optimism and energy, as well as spark creative thoughts.
Could not the line 'we found in a hopeless place' also mean that they actually did find love in a hopeless place - in awful time of their life? The narrator could be telling their story about how at one time they found themselves in a hopeless place, maybe in extreme poverty or in war or in drug addiction and out of that they did find love.
Couldn't the 'The shadowing crossing each other' and their 'dark sides' speak to the pain that they still, and maybe always will battle from the hopeless time in their lives? When the narrator speaks of dividing 'love and life' could it not be he is speaking of a way to deal with this battle. That they need to hold onto the love which allows them to live a better life and leave behind the life they still battle through flashbacks - sort of like post traumatic stress. That maybe their love is the shining a light 'through an open door.'
It just seems to me that two view points can be taken - and maybe that is the author's intention. One view point is that they did find love in a hopeless place that can lead them out of that hopeless place. The other is that the love they found in that hopeless place is as toxic as the place they found it and so needs to shed. So, I'm not disagreeing with anyone, I'm just saying that both can exist - and it depends on your point of view. Since I knew nothing about the singer's life and my life is different I saw something different.
